Autoadapt focuses on lean principles

In autumn 2005, Autoadapt initiated a programme to develop its operation in line with what are commonly termed lean principles.
We call the programme CIA – Continuous Improvement of Autoadapt
and it is founded on the management principles and business philosophy from the car manufacturer Toyota.

Always considering our products and business from the customer’s perspective, and identifying and understanding the activities which give the products their value.

Respecting our employees and enabling them to develop and
become better at producing and developing the products that people
with disabilities need to achieve a high degree of mobility and independence.

Continuously eliminating activities which do not create any value for our customers, i.e. eradicating waste. This helps ensure that we are running our business profitably so that we can continuously improve
as a supplier of car adaptation solutions.

In the field of production, CIA entails striving to work to a number of principles, including:

Orderliness – a prerequisite for all development!

Standardisation of work. A method can only be developed if everyone uses the same method.

An even, balanced flow – removing the peaks in resource requirement and ensuring an even workload between different activities.

Visualisation – making sure it is easy to see what’s normal and abnormal!

Real time – as soon as an abnormal situation arises, we act to
correct it.

The right quality right away: ‘right for me, right with me, right from me’. Quality is assured where the job is carried out, right away!

Consumption-led production – producing more than the customer wants is the worst kind of waste! Actual consumption shall always be
the reason for producing.

Once the entire organisation is permeated by the right principles, work on continuous improvement can begin. To this end, we organise everyone into improvement groups where we work in teams.

To achieve the maximum effect, we include our customers in the process so that we fully understand their needs, and our suppliers so that they understand us and our customers, and consequently what it is they need to supply. Together we are working to be the best supplier of car adaptation solutions!
